This year’s Texas Health Law Conference will now be presented virtually October 11-12, 2021 and will also be available after those dates for on-demand viewing.
Given the rapidly changing COVID-19 environment, the Health Law Section Council has made the decision to shift its annual conference to a strictly virtual format.
Several months ago, as the Council began planning the Texas Health Law Conference, the goal was always to have an in-person event. This was especially so given the vaccine availability, the reopening of the state, and the low COVID-19 rates of the early summer.
However, the recent and rapid spread of the COVID-19 delta variant, high infection rates across the state, and extremely low ICU bed availability in Austin necessitated a re-evaluation of the propriety of an in-person conference for October 2021. The Council also became aware that a number of Texas law firms and health systems have reinstituted no-travel policies as well as policies restricting attendance at in-person meetings and conferences. Ultimately, the decision was made to shift to a virtual format which will allow us to meet the continuing education needs of our members while still ensuring their wellbeing.
